The Black Wallaroo is one of the smallest species in the kangaroo family. They are roughly two thirds the size of northern wallaroos. They range from .8 meters tall in females, up to about 1 meter tall in males.

Threats.
The largest threat to the survival of the species is the change of fire patterns in their home range, which has altered the flora composition in the area where they live.

Dark Wallabies belong to the small macropod marsupial family mostly found in Eastern Australia. The Swamp Wallaby is commonly known as the black wallaby. Sometimes known as the black-tailed wallaby, black pademelon or the fern wallaby. Wallabies are herbivores and graze around swampy wet areas.
King Island has a species of dark Wallaby that were badly affected in the fires of summer of 2019/2020
Threats.
Swamp wallabies have suffered from destruction of their natural habitat.
Where habitat has been destroyed all wallabies will travel far and cross roads. This puts them at risk of being hit by cars.
Because they graze on Grass they are also subject to being shot by Farmers.
